Everyone knows that health care today costs more but we seem to get less for our dollars spent. In 2009 we spent 17% as a nation of our GDP on health care and in 2019 that number rises to 20% (National Health Expenditure Data).
Tele-Health is recognized as one important strategy to lower health care costs while improving the quality of care, and has been employed in one form or another for decades to bring quality care to those who need it and can't get it. Today Tele-Health is defined as the exchange of medical information for clinical, educational and research purposes using electronic devices (American Telemedicine Association, 2009). |
